Chili Cook-Off

On Friday, January 19, New City is hosting its annual(-ish) Chili Cook-Off. This Cook-Off is open to the community and is free to enter and, perhaps more importantly, free to eat a bowl of chili. Or twenty. Whether your chili is spicy, vegan, full of meat or beans, classic or white, or even has pineapple in it, we’d love to have you join us.

To enter the contest, registration is from 5:30–6:00PM onsite. Each visitor will be given a small amount of tokens to vote for one or more chilis. From the top-five vote getters a panel of judges will determine first, second, and third place finishes, as well as three additional categories of Best Appearance, Most Original, and Spiciest. All winners receive a cash prize. All judges are from local schools and/or non-profit organizations.

Note: all chilis must be prepared off site. Feel free to bring them in slow cookers so they may be kept warm during the contest. All bowls, napkins, beverages, etc., will be provided. (You’re on your own for indigestion.)

Winners will be announced at 8:00PM.
